Coombe is in KT2, up the hill from New Malden and north of the A3, a district of big detached houses on wooded private roads. Reaching it is the tricky bit. The cleaning itself is straightforward, and we send a team: a four bed tenancy clean costs £425, and the smallest one-off deep clean is £186, which pays for two cleaners across three hours.
Why Coombe gets the first or last slot
Malden Way crosses the district on a raised road with few crossings, so a house that looks half a mile from New Malden station on the map can take us a quarter of an hour. Coombe jobs therefore go at the start or end of a run instead of the middle. The price stays the same. What changes is which morning we can offer, and we’d rather say so plainly than book half nine and arrive at ten.
Big houses need several pairs of hands
| Booking | Total |
|---|---|
| Tenancy clean, 4 bedrooms | £425 |
| Deep clean, 2 cleaners, 3 hours | £186 |
| Deep clean, 3 cleaners, 3 hours | £264 |
| Deep clean, 3 cleaners, 4 hours | £342 |
| Range cooker, 90cm | £143 |
For a home that is lived in and staying that way, a one-off deep clean suits better, charged at £26 an hour per cleaner plus £30 for equipment. On a house this size we would normally send three and give you a fair estimate of the hours before you commit. Past four bedrooms the fixed tenancy list stops making sense, so we price by the hour instead.
Carpet survives up here
Down in the interwar streets people extend and lay wood across the ground floor, so a carpet booking there means bedrooms and stairs. Coombe bucks that. Reception rooms are often still carpeted, sometimes as one long run, and a through lounge is £61, compared with £43 for a single living room and £36 a bedroom. Wool is common in these houses and it needs a softened rinse, or minerals from the chalk supply dry into the pile as a grey haze that shows on a pale carpet within the week.
Range cookers and the odd AGA
Kitchens here tend towards range cookers. A 90cm range and a two-oven AGA are both £143, and an ordinary single oven £77. Whatever the cooker, its racks are lifted out and soaked while we hand-clean the inside and the door glass in the kitchen. A two-cavity range with hotplates takes around four hours, so it pairs well with another job. An AGA must be switched off the night before.
Help us find you
Many of the roads are private and don’t go through, and a satnav will happily send a van to the wrong end. Give us the nearest junction when you book, and mention any gate, barrier or entry code, because five minutes on the phone at the kerb is five minutes off your clean. If the drive is a long one, say so, because it decides where we leave the van.
Otherwise it all works as it does on the rest of the round, same list and same number, 020 8077 6366. The areas page covers our other neighbourhoods, and the home page explains each service.
Questions we get asked
Do you take on very large houses in Coombe?
Yes, that is most of our Coombe work. Past four bedrooms the tenancy price list stops being sensible, so we quote hours at £26 an hour per cleaner plus £30 for kit, and say up front how big a team we would bring.
What does a deep clean cost for a big house?
The floor is £186, two cleaners for three hours. Four and five bedroom houses usually get a team of three: £264 if they stay three hours, £342 if they need four. The £30 kit charge is dropped if you would like us to use your own machines.
Can you work while the family is at home?
Yes. On a deep clean we go room by room and shut doors behind us, keeping dust and noise contained. Tell us which rooms are off limits and we’ll plan around them.
Is there a charge for coming over the A3?
No. Prices are the same north of Malden Way. It affects timing, which is why Coombe slots are usually first thing or late afternoon.
Do you clean conservatories and garden rooms?
The inside glass, frames, sills and floors, yes, as part of a deep clean.
